About us

About SoftRose

SoftRose helps families understand autism, navigate UK support options, and find suitable schools and therapists.

What we do

SoftRose is a resource and human signposting service. We do not provide clinical assessments or legal advice — but we listen, we understand the system, and we help families find the right next step. For many families, that conversation is the thing that unlocks everything else.

We work with parents navigating a new diagnosis, adults seeking to understand themselves, young people approaching the end of school, and carers who have been fighting the system for years and need someone in their corner. We help with questions small and large — from "where do I even start?" to "how do I appeal a tribunal decision?"

We are not a crisis service. But we are accessible, warm, and knowledgeable. We will not judge your situation or tell you what you should have done. We will help you understand what you can do next.

The name

SoftRose represents gentleness, growth, and the idea that things bloom differently for everyone. Autism is not a disorder to be fixed. It is a difference to be understood and supported. The lotus in our logo reflects the same idea — something beautiful that grows in its own way, in its own time, in its own environment.

How we help

There is no question too small. Here is a sense of what families typically contact us about.

  • Understanding an autism diagnosis Making sense of a new diagnosis for yourself or your child — what it means, what it doesn't mean, and what comes next.
  • Finding a suitable school Identifying the right type of provision and understanding how to secure a place — including specialist placements via EHCP.
  • Identifying therapists with autism experience Knowing what to look for and which questions to ask when choosing a speech therapist, occupational therapist, or psychologist.
  • Navigating EHCP applications and reviews From first application to annual review, tribunal appeals, and school transitions — understanding every stage of the EHCP process.
  • Understanding your rights What autistic people and their families are entitled to under education and care law — and how to assert those rights effectively.
  • Finding local peer support Connecting with autistic community groups, parent networks, and local support for families who want to find others who understand.
